If there is one thing you can do today to gain real traction in your company and scale it up, it is to align every employee with an understanding of the company’s mission, vision, and values.
People want to fit in a company, they want to know that they matter and that their work is valuable. Oftentimes, employees have no idea what the mission of the company, what the company values, and how they plan to accomplish their mission.
This alignment process must start at the top of the organization. Senior-level officers must all be on board with the MMV’s in order for a successful launch to company employees. Here are a few steps to consider:
1. Educate your employees on how MVV’s impacts the company. Give real examples of the actions that accelerate and those that lead to failure.
2. Next communicate the importance of each employee how their work specifically contributes to the company’s goals.
3. Reinforce the mission of the company for the coming year. Make it real to them. Then add the vision of how the company intends to accomplish its mission.
4. Ask your employees for input into the vision. Do they have ideas about the vision and innovative ways they may have learned that can help the company? 5. Use meetings to refresh where we are as a company in relation to mission, vision, and values. Share what is working and what else we need to do.
6. Take time to discuss the values of the company and what is important. We want employees to buy into aligning their values with the company.
In his way you are investing in your employees making a commitment to working with you in a win-win situation. As managers consistently talk to their employees about the mission, vision, and values of their company, they will be amazed at the more harmonious culture and how goals will be accomplished. The focus is on the positive and less on the negative. Your results will match.
